'Twas Dec. 4 at approximately 12:10 p.m., and Stafford County deputies were called to Lowe's for a trespassing man.

Whether his shoes were too tight, or his heart was two sizes too small, Alphonsus Anthony's wonderful idea to steal Christmas was foiled by deputies, after all.

They looked in his sleigh, a Ram pickup, that day, and saw holiday goods, for none of which he had paid.

There were wreaths and treetops, and LED lights galore. There was a stuffed up Christmas tree, a power washer, and more.

The New Carlton, MD man would soon hear a sound. It started out low, but didn't take long to grow.

That sound was his charges, which started small, you see. But then they piled higher and higher, tall like a Christmas tree.

He was charged with grand larceny, larceny with intent to sell. He was charged with trespassing, served with outstanding warrants, then lodged in the Rappahannock Regional Jail.

No bond for 64-year-old Anthony today, again not tomorrow, and not on Christmas Day.
